Areas of Interest

Beausejour and its surrounding areas have many beautiful landmarks that have jumped out over its history. Take a look at some of the most iconic attractions Beausejour has had to offer.

Areas of Interest

Pioneer Village Museum

Established in 1967, the Pioneer Village Museum recreates a small rural Manitoba community in the early 1900s. Housed within the grounds is a home, railway station, barbershop, blacksmith shop, school, community hall, and store, just to name a few.

Most of the pioneers of this region were of Polish, Ukrainian, or German descent, coming from the areas known as Galicia and Volhynia. These pioneers had to face many hardships in carving out the wilderness and learning to adapt to a new way of life. Many artifacts depicting the lifestyle of the early pioneers of the surrounding area are located in these buildings.

Daylily Gardens

The two acre Park at the north entrance to Beausejour (First Street, North) is the only offical American Hemerocallis Society (AHS) display garden on the Canadian prairies.

The Gardens are a 3A site that showcase modern daylilies, peonies, iris as well the newest Manitoba hardy shrubs and fruit trees. We have thriving haskaps, grapes, cherry, apricot, pear, and apple trees.

Improvements to the Gardens are due to efforts from volunteers, private contributions, fundraising and grant programs. More than 5000 visitors enjoy the Beausejour Daylily Gardens every year. Sign our guest book each time you visit the Gardens. We appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Train Whistle Park and Rail Trail

Picnic tables, benches, and beautiful trees and flowers highlight some of what you will see at this location. There is also a caboose poised in the shadow of the local grain elevator. It is located on Pacific Avenue and Third Street in Beausejour.

The Rail Trail is part of Phase 1 of Beausejour's Active Transportation Committee Master Plan. Located in the heart of Beausejour, it has turned the former rail line into a multi-use trail connecting active transportation routes throughout Beausejour. The newly constructed trail runs between First Street South and Third Street.

This is the site of the first glass container factory in Western Canada. It was built in 1906 by Joseph Keilbach and his partners. Semi-automatic machines were soon installed to increase production. After it was taken over and enlarged by Winnipeg businessmen between 1909 and 1911, the new company expanded its production to include jars, and medicine and ink bottles. At its peak it employed 350 workers.

We are a family owned and operated campground, and our motto’s “Roughing it Smoothly” and “let our family take care of yours” are set in place to ensure that your stay with us is an enjoyable one. We have over 40 years experience in the campground business and we believe that we can accommodate all your needs. Here at Brokenhead River Park, we believe the safety and well-being of our campers comes first. This is why we have one main road through the campground and all others are a dead end. This ensures minimal traffic through the campground and the visibility of all incoming guests.

We are adjacent to the Beausejour Golf Course with a path that leads to their club house. We feel you will be impressed with the several large grass areas that are set aside for the two children’s play areas. The main area is down by the beach and is home to the popular tree house and swings. You will also find a basketball net and beach volleyball court there to pass the time away.
